Who asks for the review after the job?

Most new customers read your Google reviews before they call. Review tools send a request after each job, make it easy to leave a review, help you reply, and show whether your rating is going up.

Prices in the list are copied from vendor pages, with the date we read them.

When AI helps

  • Drafting replies to reviews, good and bad, in your voice, for you to approve.
  • Timing requests so they go out right after a job closes in your FSM.
  • Summaries of what customers keep praising or complaining about.

What to look for

Items marked must-have are the ones that decide whether a tool fits this job.

  • No review-gating (must-have). Every customer gets the same chance to post publicly. The tool doesn’t steer unhappy customers away from Google or another public review site.
  • Honors opt-outs (must-have) for review request texts and emails.
  • Requests go out automatically when a job is marked done in your FSM.
  • AI reply quality. Replies are specific and calm, with no promises or private details in a public reply.
  • Reporting on reviews gained and your rating trend.

Common pitfalls

  • Review-gating. Google’s content policy says businesses must not discourage negative reviews or selectively ask for positive ones (Google policy). The FTC’s consumer reviews rule also restricts review suppression (16 CFR 465.7). Don’t do it, even if a tool offers it.
  • Auto-posting AI replies. Read them first.
  • Paying for an all-in-one bundle when you only want review requests.
  • Over-asking. Several reminders to the same customer can annoy them.

FAQ

Is it OK to ask every customer for a review?

Yes. Asking everyone is the right way to do it. What isn’t OK is filtering who gets asked based on whether they’re happy.

Should I reply to every review?

Replying to most reviews, especially negative ones, shows future customers you’re paying attention. Keep replies short, and take details offline.

Do I need a paid tool for this?

Not to start. A text with your review link works. Tools help with automation and tracking once you’re doing volume.

Tools for this job

Ranked by the average star rating across public review sites (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot, App Store, Google Play), counting sites with at least 5 reviews so no single site dominates. Tools with fewer than 10 such reviews are listed after, alphabetically. No tool can pay for a higher rank.

Tools for Get more reviews. Higher public review ratings come first. A paid placement is labeled and does not move a tool.
